Studying in Baden-Württemberg
At Baden-Württemberg’s universities you can study nearly everything from engineering or business to history and even American studies. For most universities and many subjects, you don’t even need to speak German. Just find the right classes in English for your interests and degree progress. Of course, Baden-Württemberg is a great place to pick up the language or improve your German, and the BW/NC Program offers financial support to help cover the cost of an intensive preparatory language course at your host institution.

Derek Holmgren, PhD
International Programs Coordinator
Derek joined the UNCG Global Engagement Office as the International Programs Coordinator in 2023. He supports internationalization efforts at all UNC System campuses, including serving as the UNC System’s liaison for the Baden-Württemberg / UNC System Exchange Program. Derek has held two Fulbright grants to Germany, and he participated in undergraduate education abroad programs in Bosnia and Greece. He earned a PhD and MA in History from UNC Chapel Hill and a BA in History from the University of Denver. Derek is thrilled to help students experience new places and cultures.
